Great land dirt cheap!  No driving around on dusty roads looking for your lot, this parcel sits on a paved road with amenities such as a general store (remember Bonks?) and BLM visitors station within walking distance.

These 2.27 acres are practically right off Highway 14 and across from the Jawbone Canyon open area.  Jawbone is an off roader's paradise and all sorts of vehicles can be see recreating there including 4x4's, ATC's, ATV's, dirbikes, sandrails and buggies, and UTV's, the new scourge of the desert.  The Jawbone store sells gas, hot dogs, and beer.  The BLM station sells maps, books, and plenty of big brother advice.  This is all flat 100% usable land with plenty of desert and mountain views.  The parcel can make a great weekend getaway for camping out or for off road enthusiasts who want a private base camp.  The town of Mojave is about about 20 minutes away and the city of Los Angeles about 90 minutes.  California City is a leisurely 15 minute drive from the land. (on road or off, green sticker or no sticker)

Red Rock Canyon State Park is about 2 miles north of the property. This beautiful and scenic wonder of California was established as a state park in 1968 when legislation was passed and signed to create Red Rock Canyon State Park, the first state park in Kern County. Historically, the area was once home to the Kawaiisu Indians, who left petroglyphs in the El Paso mountains and other evidence of their inhabitation. The spectacular gash situated at the western edge of the El Paso mountain range was on the Native American trade route for thousands of years. About 1850, it was used again; this time by the footsore survivors of the famous Death Valley trek. Members of the Arcane and Bennett families along with some of the Illinois Jayhawkers passed through Red Rock Canyon.
Later, in the 1860's, some prospecting was done. During the early 1870s, the colorful rock formations in the park served as landmarks for 20-mule team freight wagons that stopped for water. Then, in 1893, placer gold activity began with hundreds of miners sifting the sands in the canyon. The canyon was also used as a passage for driving large flocks of sheep northward; as a stagecoach stop; a railroad route; and as a truck stop.
In more recent times, Red Rock Canyon has been the location for many movies, videos, and commercials. In addition, the canyon is considered a wonderful classroom for the study of geology, paleontology, and photography as well as an ideal place for family and exploration.
The unique and colorful layers of white, pink, red, and brown cliffs grace both the east and west sides of Highway 14. These fluted folds are the result of wind and rain eroding the softer materials beneath the dark capraocks, which were formedby a harder lava flow layer.
First time visitors may think of the desert as an empty and uninteresting badland. However, appreciation and interest grows as one becomes more acquainted with the area and the extreme conditions in which the different biotic communities exist -- which includes the common camp squid.

Additional info: Kern County, zoned estate 2 1/2 acre minimum.  Taxes approximately $80/year.  Assessors parcel #181-070-37.  Owner will finance the property if a full cash buyer cannot be found, no extra fees for paperwork and contracts.  Owner will hold the deed until paid in full.  After full payment is made the deed will be recorded in the buyer's favor.

QUALITY OF LIFE - Here you will be able to enjoy excellent weather, clean air, good schools, safe streets, and plenty of recreational activities like fishing, hiking, skydiving, horseback riding, hunting, offroading, rock-hounding, hot springs, sand dunes, and camping to name a few.  Down the road at California City there is an 18 hole PGA golf course, an 80-acre Central park and lake, shopping, post office, public library, schools, you name it.  In addition, all of the atrractions the Los Angeles has to offer would never be more than two hours away - beaches, more shopping, Hollywood, etc... just avoid the grid-locked freeways in dowtown LA or you might be sorry.

GROWTH - The Antelope Valley was growing well until our economy went south.  Only time will tell how long it takes to recover, thank all of those politicians and corporations who took our money and ran.  We also should share in the blame for letting it happen (even still).  But this isn't about a rant about fighting to get our country back - just selling land here.  California land values in small communities and outlying areas have shown the greatest return on land investments making this an incredible for-sale-by-owner offer.

LOCATION - The property is situation in the Southern California high desert with the cities of Lancaster, Palmdale, and Cal City to the south, Mojave to the west, and Ridgecrest and the Sierra Nevada mountain range to the north.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS - (from Los Angeles) take Highway 14 north for about 68 miles to the town of Mojave.  From Mojave continue on 14 north for about 20 miles give or take, when you see the Jawbone store on your left slow down because after you cross over the wash you will make an immediate right onto Rodgers Road.  Drive down about 1/4 mile and the land will be on your left.  It's exactly 1650 feet from the intersection of Rodgers road and Neuralia. (if you drive all the way down and back-track - 3 tenths of a mile on the odometer)

A couple years ago I took these photos when it was snowing and raining a bunch in January - we were camped up in Jawbone Canyon and were lucky not to get washed away.  That type of weather is uncommon, usually this part of the desert is hot and dry, although chilly during winter.

On Rodgers Road, land for sale to the immediate right.  The building straight ahead is the BLM visitors center (brownish red).

Parked in front of the land, Rodgers Road and Neuralia intersection straight ahead at the power pole.

Looking at the 2.27 acres of land for sale.

View across the street, some housing developments in the distance.  Some friends once did some work out there.

California map - property is easily accessed by most of southern california.

Friends of Jawbone map - plenty to see and do in the area.  Some may say this map isn't that accurate, but it covers a lot of area.

Plat map - notice the drawn in arrow pointing directly at the land for sale.  This parcel was originally 2.5 acres, but Rodgers Road cuts into the property slightly, thus it is now 2.27 acres.  A 2.5 acre property has dimensions of 330 feet x 330 feet, this property may be 330ft x 310ft.
